I came into this course with no healthcare background, but I wanted to qualify for a TEER 3 job in the healthcare sector. That's when I found Ascentia Career Institute and enrolled in their Chairside Dental Assistant / Dental Assistant Level I / Licensed Dental Assistant (Limited) program. The program is about six months long, and the biggest challenge for me was staying consistent with my studies while balancing night shifts. If you make your education a priority and communicate with the instructors, they are very understanding. There were times when I felt completely overwhelmed and even considered dropping out, but the staff took the time to counsel me, encourage me, and help me get back on track. Their support made a huge difference. One thing I really appreciated was that there were no inflated tuition fees for international students. The tuition was the same for everyone, which I found very fair. At the time, I wasn't aware that student financial aid was available, but even without it, the program was still accessible. The institute provides all the books and study materials, so you don't have to worry about purchasing additional resources. My instructor was highly experienced and provided one-on-one guidance in both theory and clinical skills throughout the program. Even when I came to class exhausted after working night shifts, they motivated me, held me accountable, and pushed me to do my best. Looking back, I truly appreciate that because sometimes you need someone who believes in you more than you believe in yourself. Within five months, I had gained valuable knowledge, earned multiple certificates, completed my coursework, and was prepared for my practicum. One of the best parts is that Ascentia arranges practicums in your own city whenever possible, making the transition into the workforce much easier. I'm about to begin my practicum next week, and I already feel much more confident about my future. They also provide support with resumes, job searching, and career guidance after the course, which adds tremendous value. Overall, I highly recommend Ascentia Career Institute to anyone looking to start a career in dental assisting or enter the healthcare field. If you're willing to put in the effort, the instructors and staff will support you every step of the way.
As an immigrant, enrolling in the Dental Assistant program has been one of the best decisions for my professional growth as well to support my PR. The course is well-structured, combining both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical training that prepares students for real clinical settings. The instructor is knowledgeable, supportive, and always willing to answer questions, creating a positive and encouraging learning environment. The practical sessions have helped me build confidence in assisting with dental procedures, infection control, patient care, and chairside techniques. I really appreciate the quality of the learning resources provided throughout the program. This course has strengthened my skills, increased my confidence, and prepared me for a successful career as a dental assistant in Canada. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to enter the dental field and build a rewarding future.
I had such a great experience taking the Chairside Dental Assisting course at Ascentia Career Institute. The instructors are incredibly supportive and genuinely care about their student’s success. My instructor, Darcy, went above and beyond throughout my entire journey. Even after graduation, she continues to check in on me and is helping me with my job search, which means so much. For my practicum, I was placed at Dr. Black’s office on Hardy Place, and it was an amazing experience. The whole team was welcoming, supportive, and always willing to share advice, not just for the practicum, but for starting my career afterward as well. They truly go above and beyond for their patients, and it was inspiring to be part of that environment. I always felt comfortable, encouraged, and valued while I was there. I’m really grateful for everything I learned and the support I received. I highly recommend this program to anyone considering a career in dental assisting!
I am so grateful for the wonderful support from everyone who works at the college, Alda Darcy and Mike are an amazing team and thanks to Mary too for doing amazing behind the scenes work to make sure we have quality resumes and good interview skills in preparation for the job market. This college is the number one school I´ve ever been to when it comes to support, compassion, empathy and flexibility. I struggled with some ongoing health issues and they were there for me every step of the way and made sure I would succeed. I don´t think I´ve ever felt more supported by an instructor (Darcy). Her knowledge of the industry is incredible and her teaching style is very hands on and easy to understand. I´m so thrilled with everything I´ve experienced here and I would highly recommend not only for the people but the sophisticated equipment and up to date practices. Words cannot even begin to express how thankful I really am for the effort put in by my instructor and all the staff at Ascentia to make sure I am successful.
My experience at Ascentia Career Institute has been truly amazing. I am extremely grateful to Alda for her constant guidance and to my instructor Darcy, who supported me with patience and encouragement throughout the program. Darcy made learning enjoyable, stress-free and i always felt motivated in her classes. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to Mary ( Placement coordinator) and Darcy for their efforts to find the best practicum site that is the right fit for me. The whole journey was positive, well-organized and filled with constant guidance. The staff genuinely care about their students success. I really enjoyed my time here. I highly recommend this institute to anyone looking for quality education, supportive instructors and meaningful practicum opportunities. If you get the chance to study with Darcy, I can confidently say you will have a wonderful learning experience .
I´m incredibly grateful for the support I received from both my instructor (Darcy) and the Institute( specifically Alda) throughout my learning journey. As a single mom, balancing studies with parenting can be extremely challenging, but I felt genuinely supported every step of the way. My instructor was not only knowledgeable and professional but also incredibly patient and understanding of my situation. They showed great empathy and flexibility, which made it possible for me to stay on track and succeed in the course. The institute itself also provided a welcoming and accommodating environment, making it easier for me to focus on my learning without added stress. They understood the challenges I faced and supported me without judgment. What meant the most to me was feeling that they not only cared about my success but also respected and supported my role as a mother. I could feel the love and care extended toward my child as well, which made a huge difference in my experience. I´m very grateful for their support and would highly recommend this place to anyone—especially those who may be juggling multiple responsibilities like I was. This institute isn´t just about education — it´s about people, empathy, and building futures. I´ll always be thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow here.
